Use the FILENAME command with the PIPE engine to uncompress data from
a compressed file and stream them into SAS INPUT statement:
FILENAME pipefile PIPE "zcat f1.xx.Z .....";
INFILE pipefile .....;
The Unix zcat command produces a stream of ASCII data from a
compressed Unix file. Use the GNU/Unix gzcat for PK or WinZip files.
The pipe accepts the yield of one or more commands.

Does anyone know how I can take a UNIX compressed dataset and read it
directly into a SAS datastep without uncompressing outside of SAS and
then running my SAS program? Thanks in advance!!
