Unfortunately the restriction is still there in version 8. Another bothersome
restriction is that the 'name=' option in the graphics procedure is also still
limited to 8 characters. Something to do with catalogs, I believe. However, Macro
names can now be more than 8 characters in V8. Not sure about libnames.
