Subject: Re: invalid data and some problems

WOW, I knew that my post was a bit on the aggressive side, but I did not expect the response I got to my personal e-mail. I did not post to imply that everyone reading and/or posting to the SAS-L or SAS newsgroup were programmers by profession. My point was that it appeared that the poster of all 3 issues had not looked in the log beyond the point of seeing an error. All 3 issues are similar to what happens in life. As in:

(1) If you are told your tires are unbalanced, you balance them. So if the log tells you your quotes are unbalanced...search the program and balance them.

(2) If you are putting pegs in a hole and one does not fit...you would look at it and see what is different about it and either fix it or get rid of it. So if you are using a series of values such as '14Oct1999'd, '16Oct1999'd, .....'30Oct1999','31Oct1999'd and the program says that '30Oct1999' is incorrect (does not fit) then you look at it to see what is different....it is missing the d after the closing quote...so you put the d there.

(3) You want to go into a store and you have a gun on your side, you are told NO because the gun is illegal in the store...you take the gun off. The program says that the parenthesis is illegal in the following : if name then (i+1);...you remove the parenthesis.

These are more common sense issues and issues of one trying to do his/her own work or getting someone to do it for him/her. One not even trying to see what is spelled out before them.

I sometimes post argument provoking replies...in the future, DO NOT E-MAIL ME PERSONALLY.

Kind Regards,

Vicki
