Given the recent discussion on SAS-L concerning certification, you may be interested in a special article in the newsletter on certification written by Michael Davis and S. David Riba (both SAS Quality Partners). The introduction to the article follows...

One of the HOT topics in the SAS world over the last year has been the Institute's introduction of a Certification program wherein SAS professionals could take a fee-based series of exams, developed by SAS Institute, and be recognized by the Institute as having mastered various levels and areas of the SAS System. In an attempt to provide some "been there, took that" reportage to our readers, the Editors asked two prominent independent SAS consultants, both tested and now certified at the base level of the Certification scheme, to report back on their experiences and current feelings about the process. The following is the result of a self-generated Q&A session held electronically between Michael Davis (Mad Doggy) and S. David Riba (SASGuru). Short bios follow the session.
