Ron, it seems to me that all Joshua is asking for is an emulation of the MODE() function which (along with a few others!) SI 'forgot' to include in SAS.

One of the reasons for the 'forgetting' may, of course, be due to the need to define what to do with ties (i.e. multiple modes); 'options' to functions are an unusual concept!
