I've been using Lexmarks for over 10 years (am an old OS/2-er and HP never did OS/2 drivers - or they were always one or two models behind).

Also, w.r.t. PCL modes, it seemed like there were a broader set of "symbol sets" available for different fonts under the Lexmarks where as the HP "symbol sets" all seemed limited.

I may be rambling a bit here, but what I mean is that their font cartridges, etc. that had the higher order ASCI characters I needed for use with the smaller fonts (line draw chars mainly vs. the higher order HP ASCI fonts that all seemed to have just the "umlot" type of European-looking characters).

Bottom-line: go with the best drivers.
