I have been with this group for many years and I know some of you may be
able to help or direct me to the right source on this matter.
We just move our system from DB2 in IBM main frame system to ORACLE in
UNIX, now we are in the process of building a good data warehouse for
our research group. Although I have seen some demo by ORACLE, SAS, and
PLATINUM Group, yet I'd like to get a feedback from end user or people
who really involved in developing the DWH system. We, the Information
and Resource Management (IRM) group, are responsible for maintaining an
extensive research database with a very large size files extracted from
ORACLE database system. Currently we're using SAS to manipulate data and
produce statistical analyses at UNIX platform.
Our objective is to develop a single integrated DWH/decision support
system that is automatically synchronized with our ORACLE system. The
DWH should be capable of producing any type of report currently we
produced and other information we may use in future. The main functions
of the Branch are medical coding, data management, production of reports
and publications, dissemination of vital statistics' data, and
maintenance of the Health Status Registry. Research projects and
publications of the Branch cover a wide range of Natality and mortality
related topics. We assist in the assessment, monitoring, and reporting
of the health status of British Columbians.
Any information on DWH is appreciated.
