Hello everyone !

I have recently enjoyed watching a persistent Red-bellied Woodpecker trying to feed from a very small seed feeder, clinging to a concrete house wall and flying back and forth. On a light-colored and vertical background it was difficult not to appreciate the flexibility of this bird as it was positioning itself for its next foray.

This woodpecker joins my observations of urban Red-headed Woodpeckers which I have seen on several occassions feeding on the ground with pigeons and starlings on discarded bread in fairly busy streets.

Has anyone else seen woodpeckers feeding opportunistically in urban areas around the state ?

Thanks and good birding !
