Alan wrote asking about books on derivation of scientic names (Latin etc.) I had the same need for a program I am giving to a garden club on the derivation of scientific names of plants. I found the answer quickly by checking with Amazon.com book supplier I was able to get two simple books: Gardener's Latin by Bill Neal and A Gardener's Handbook of Plant Names by A.W. Smith. Both give the definitions of Latin and Greek scientific names. It is a real fun program to present. Years ago I gave it to aquarium societies. Hope this helps. Glenn
