Due to overwhelming demand, BASUG once again presents:
"Efficient Everyday Programming" by Bob Virgile
A One-Day Course for BASUG Members only
Course fee: $60
Date: Wednesday, August 19, 1998, 9:00 - 4:30
For the few dozen folks who could not be accommodated in
the July class, Bob will perform an encore.
Learn Efficiency from the Guy Who Wrote the Book!
Efficient Everyday Programming is an intermediate level
course covering programming tools and techniques that
reduce the CPU time and storage space needed to run SAS
programs. The course makes efficiency easy to understand
in a number of ways. First, it breaks down efficiency
into tasks which programs perform on a regular basis:
reading data, reporting, handling SAS files, sorting,
and summarizing and manipulating data. Second, it covers
common programming techniques, eliminating more esoteric
and little-used topics. Finally, the course addresses
writing test programs on efficiency, so you can expand the
scope to cover your own ideas and techniques.
Besides receiving a low price, each student will also receive
a copy of both the course notes as well as Bob's brand new
book, "Efficiency: Improving the Performance of Your
SAS Applications". To make all of this possible in one day,
the course will cover the lecture materials only, skipping
over the workshops.
Bob Virgile has been developing and teaching SAS courses
since 1983. He has presented a dozen papers for SUGI, NESUG,
MWSUG, SESUG, and PharmaSUG. He creates the problem-solving
contests for SUGI and NESUG, and is now completing
his second book for SAS Institute, covering efficient use
of SAS software. When you ask Bob a question, you get
the answer! Since he has specialized in SAS software
for so many years, he knows (or will invent) programming
techniques that will address your question. You will get
the techniques (not just the syntax), as well as analysis
of relevant factors that might favor one approach over another.
Registration & Admission:
This special training class is open to BASUG members only.
The course fee is just $60. Attendance is limited to
70 people and pre-registration is required, so call Bob
as soon as you can.
For questions about the class, seating availability,
or your registration, contact Bob Virgile: 781-938-0307
