Subject: academic pricing | ballpark

Greetings -

Since I always get vague notions from some of the SAS folks I talk to, I figured it was easier to try here. I "may" be negotiating a new position in the next month, and one of the things I will be asking for is for "University XYZ" to buy me SAS (they don't currently license it).

SAS seems to think of everything and everyone in terms of mega-license purchases. All I want is my very own personal copy! Could anyone who has a even remotely informed clue please give me an idea how much $$$ we're talking about, either for PC or UNIX platforms (I use either). Specifically, academic pricing. Unlike business-types, I don't have the option of writing everying off as a business expense.

Further, is it a one-time price, or does SAS soak us for annual fees as well.

Thanks very much in advance. If you could e.mail me your replies as well as posting them, I'd appreciate it muchly...
