I can't suggest a remedy but can confirm that it is not normal
behaviour. I run SAS 6.12 on a 16 meg 486 with SAS/CONECT to a Unix box.
It's not a speed daemon (the 486 PC) but once SAS has started there are
rarely any perceptible delays in interactions with thge user interface.
