Subject: Algorithms for Computing Frequencies
Content-Type: text/plain

Dear SAS-L,

Please pardon the non-SAS related question but I'm looking for articles that discribe algorithms that compute frequencies. I've been using PROC FREQ for years and wondered how it's computed (not necessarily SAS's algorithm, but any generic frequency). I'm interested in both 1-way and n-way frequencies. To date my web surfing has not provided much help; I've looked at ACM and ASA pages without luck, plus YAHOO and a few other search engines. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
