Subject: more on installation problems under Windows 95
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
I want to thank you all who replied to my desperate call for help when I
couldn't install SAS under Windows 95 on a laptop (KRNL386.exe problem). I
followed your suggestions to get the fiberfix.exe update from SAS home page
at http://www.sas.com/techsup/download/pc/fiberfix.exe
ran the fix (612upd1.exe) and alas: now it was possible to update the SAS
license information and start the program.
BUT it is still impossible to run a complete installation from the CD. The
installation hangs exactly as before when I try. It would be nice to have a
proper and complete installation, although the SAS system seems to work
now. I also tried with Microsofts Service Pack Update, as someone
suggested, and MS Kernel 32 update, but nothing of that seems to help.
Does anyone have experience on this? What happened when you ran the
fiberfix update? Could you make a complete installation of SAS after that?
