Subject: Function VARNAME
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII

I have found in the online "help" a function called VARNAME which I believe would be useful for me. Unfortunately, the complete documentation provided goes like this:

"VARNAME(dsid,var-num) returns the name of a SAS data set variable "

I do not know what the arguments are supposed to be - can anyone help me out? And don't say RTFM, because it is not documented in the manuals I have (SAS Language Reference Version 6, first edition).

BTW I didn't get any replies, or see any posted here to my original question re: using the values of one variable as the name of others. Did the question ever appear?
