I'll look into PROC COMPARE a bit more, but from memory, all this does is give you Xs where character values are different and the actual difference between numeric variables (ie var1 = 4 var1 = 10, PROC COMPARE gives 6).

Is there any way to use this to get the reports in the format I need?

I also need to use it in a macro, as I will need to compare various datasets with different numbers and types of variables.
