Subject:   Technical Evaluation on SAS before Hiring
Content-Type:   text/plain

Hello:

I am new to the list and don't really know if you entertain these kinds of questions. I am sorry if I violate any of the unspoken rules that vary from list to list.

Recently I was asked by a potential employer to take a technical evaluation ( he said "a tough test") on SAS since they can't quantify my 5 years plus experience in dealing with SAS as a graduate student.

I have no problem with taking a technical evaluation because I have heard many employers do give you a test just to be on the safe side.

My question: Have you ever given or taken such an evaluation? As a test taker what did you find the area of emphasis to be?

As an employer if you give such tests, what area interests you the most? The job is in financial sector and they deal with huge data sets. That's all I know.

I would greatly appreciate it if you can suggest some topics (geez after so many years in graduate school, I still sound like a freshman) that are more important than others. I want to do well in this test.

Thanks
