When inputting numeric values from an Excel or Lotus spreadsheet, is the value input just the number "displayed" due to its number format?

I.e., I have three cells, each cell contains 1.4 as the value. The number format is for rounded with no decimals, so what is "seen" is 1 in each cell. But when added together the sum of all three is 4 (actually 4.2). My SAS inputs have picked up 1 from each cell with the sum being 3.

Is there a way to informat or somehow input the actual contents of each cell?

Thanks.
