Subject: Re: Should We Have a FAQ?
Tim, a while back (pre-gray hairs) there were conversations about a =
SAS-L committee of sorts to oversee the administrivia of the group like =
FAQ's, binaries, rules of engagement, etc. I'm in full favor of having =
a FAQ if it is kept up-to-date, has owner accountability and is =
accuracy. I have a feeling though, that something like this is going to =
be one or two people doing the work. Perhaps, we could establish a core =
readership that would divide the tasks into manageable chunks like:
I. Subscribing, un-subscribing
II. Searching for answers
III. SAS-L Archives
IV. SAS File Contribution Server
V. Web, Gopher and FTP Sites
VI. Binaries, large enclosures
VII. Consultants, job-posters and job-seekers
=20
others?
Posted monthly, (comp.soft-sys.sas and SAS-L) and archived on the File =
Contribution Server.....
But regardless, I'm in favor of the idea. =20

Subject: Should We Have a FAQ?
Should it be posted once a week? Should it cover how to subscribe, how
to unsubscribe, and simple and advanced archive searches? Should it
explain the significance of flame-proof underware (maybe not--we
actually have a fairly civil group)? Should it contain a list of common
keywords in the archive, or a list of significant keywords in the
archive? Should we automate or rotate posting duty?
