Subject: Assigning ID

I have a dataset need to give each observation a unique ID base on let's say sex and age(64 as cut point). That will be divided into four groups. I then will assign a ID to each observation of each group. Which SAS statement or function can do the job? I can vonvert the dataset to Excel and get the job done. However, I just want to know how I can accomplish this task using SAS. Thank you. ---------------------------------- TSO-YU (Joey) LIAO School of Public Health University of Texas HSC at Houston
