Subject: SASTip: Using Tech. Support Help (6.11 TS040)

What? ----- In SAS 6.11 TS040 there is the "SAS Institute Technical Support" help files, which are not immediately available from the Help menu in SAS. These help files have a wealth of useful information such as Tech Support notes and all the usage notes, which can be easily searched for solutions to problems.

They cover the following areas: - Alert Notes - System Requirements - Electronic Support - Setinits - Client/Server - FAQs (which is not yet implemented) - Technical Notes - Usage Notes - Telephone

How? ---- Look at the file "!sasroot\usage\techsup\readme.txt" which explains what to do. The contents of this file is displayed here.

------- Start of readme.txt -------

In order to use the Technical Support Help:

If your operating environment is Windows with the Win32s Extensions installed, from File Manager just double click the Tsmain.exe file.

If your operating environment is Windows 95 or Windows NT, from Exployer or in NT from File Manager, just double click the Tsmain.hlp file.

If you would like to link this in to the Help menu item in the SAS System Display Manager, you can use the -helpregister option in the Config.SAS file.

Ex. -helpregister 'Techsup' !sasroot\usage\techsup\Tsmain.hlp

------- End of readme.txt -------

p.s. My friend Mark Bodt discovered this information. -----------------------------------------------------------+ ! Philip Mason Email: wood-st@cityscape.co.uk ! ! Freelance SAS Consultant, ! !
