THE INFORMATION FOR THE NEXT GAUSS (GATEWAY AREA USERS OF THE SAS SYSTEM) MEETING IS AS FOLLOWS:

DATE: THURSDAY, JUNE 20, 1996

TIME: 2.00PM - 5.00PM

LOCATION : HOWARD JOHNSON'S MOTEL AMERICAN ROOM

@ I44 & HAMPTON

PROGRAM:

WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE CHIP KELLY FROM THE SAS HQ IN CARY TO TALK ABOUT USING SAS WITH THE INTERNET:

Information Delivery on the World Wide Web:

The volume of opportunities for information delivery mushroomed with the advent of the World Wide Web(WWW), and the increased popularity of inexpensive, highly interactive Web Browsers. SAS Institute finds itself in the midst of a paradigm shift that will soon refine the very concept of information delivery, and mark the beginning of a new era for the way SAS Software interacts with requests for services.

This presentation will discuss the underpinnings of Web technology, and how the SAS System can be exploited with current Web protocols, production software offerings from SAS Institute and currently available software from other Web software vendors. The presentation will then address the potential directions for SAS Software in this new, and exciting market.

Attendees should arrive with an interest in the WWW as a means of collecting information, adding value to it, and broadcasting it to an appreciative, unknown audience. Attendees will leave with increased knowledge of the Web, some specific applications available on the Web that exploit the power of the SAS System, and a glimpse into future directions for SAS Institute.

Chip Kelly has been with SAS Institute for 13 years as an Instructor, Marketing Rep, and Sales Manager. His experience with SAS Software extends back to SAS72, when he used it for statistical analysis of both undergraduate and graduate research in forestry and genetics.

WE WILL ALSO BE BRIEFLY DISCUSSING THE MID-WEST REGIONAL CONFERENCE THAT WILL BE HELD IN ST. LOUIS IN 1998.
