Subject: Problem with DDE in SAS
I tried to use the follwoing DDE code on my new computer and it refuses to
work complaining that file does not exist. This is the same code as sample
given by SAS help file.
/** SAS CODE **/
/* the dde link is established using microsoft excel sheet1,
rows 1 through 10 and columns 1 through 3. */
filename monthly dde 'excel | sheet1 ! r1c1:r10c3';
input var1 var2 var3;
/** LOG FILE **/
NOTE: AUTOEXEC processing completed.
1 /* the dde link is established using microsoft excel sheet1,
2 rows 1 through 10 and columns 1 through 3. */
4 filename monthly dde 'excel | sheet1 ! r1c1:r10c3';
5 data monthly;
6 infile monthly;
7 input var1 var2 var3;
ERROR: Physical file does not exist, excel | sheet1 ! r1c1:r10c3.
NOTE: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of errors.
WARNING: The data set WORK.MONTHLY may be incomplete. When this step was
stopped there were 0 observations and 3 variables.
NOTE: The DATA statement used 2.85 seconds.
MS-EXCEL is open and I have the data there and file name is properly defined.
If I use the same code on some othet machine it works like a charm. I suspect
some kind of WINDOWS problem. Should I reinstall WINDOWS?
Should I reinstall SAS? Where else the problem could be?
