Subject: getting rid of redundant records from database
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi there,

I have a concern regarding how a database manages or updates it's records. My raw data come from monthly dumps of a database. So there are a lot of redundant records. I would like to distill it by finding the first occurrence of each primary key value. Is this method reliable? I am worrying about two records from two months with the same primary key value might be different. If this were true, then I would lose data by distilling the raw data that way.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome! Thank you.

Regards, Max (Maaxx)
