The Sr. Manager/Director, Analytics will be a key member of the analytics team supporting the medical claims and master data product lines. The diverse responsibilities of this position include research and new product development, supporting sales to help close complex deals, building client deliverables involving complex analytical methods, and interacting with clients both pre sales and post delivery. The position will leverage the candidates&rsquo; advanced skills in data analysis and deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector to drive value for Health Market Science (HMS).

Primary responsibilities will include:

Research and development of new products and novel capabilities related to medical claims and master data that rely on complex data analysis.

Support sales to help close deals by leveraging knowledge of client business problems and HMS data assets.

Interact with external clients, both during pre-sales and project delivery.

Lead effort to build client deliverables on projects requiring sophisticated data analysis and manipulation.

Serve as subject matter expert and consultant to HMS staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Preferred educational background: PhD with over 7 years experience, MS with over 12 yrs experience, or BS with over 15 yrs experience -- in statistics or similar computational/quantitative science.

Client or vendor side experience in healthcare industry &ndash; either in pharma/med device sector, or in payer/provider space.

Familiarity with medical claims data or Rx data is a plus.

Specific technical skills: one or more of the following:

exploratory data analysis.

ability to work with and analyze very large datasets.

machine learning/statistical analysis &ndash; regression, predictive modeling, clustering, classification, etc.

Specific tools: one or more of: Linux, SQL,SAS/R/S-plus, scripting language like Perl, Ruby, Python

Strong interpersonal and communication skills &ndash; both the ability to listen/understand and to clearly articulate complex ideas. Ability to communicate complex concepts to a diverse audience

Strong analytical and problem solving skills
