Warren, what are you using on the client side that would rely on the bandwidth? I was under the assumption to use SAS on the server you would remote in to the server and run everything there. All that would be passed between the server and the client would be screen images. We may be going to a server solution this year so I have a lot to learn about how this process works.

While I agree with Dennis, I can tell you our experience is that the server-based approach is measurably slower. I chalk it up to the bandwidth between the server and local user.

I mention this only to note, for it to be faster, all components must be examined. The total speed is limited by the slowest link.

You may also have an inadequate amount of memory, something tying up the system memory hive, or a memory leak. Someone needs to troubleshoot why the server is not performing adequately. It sounds like there is something wrong with the server. The server should give better performance than a PC if everything is working as it should, the hardware is adequate, and it is configured correctly.
