| Subject: | Red-throated Loon - Vann's Tavern Day Use Park,
Lake Lanier - 1/21/12 |
|---|
Hi All,
I checked some spots at Lake Lanier this afternoon after the storms had moved through. The
best bird was a Red-throated Loon way out on the lake up at the north end of the view from the
Vann's Tavern day use park overlook. This may be the same loon I observed there on the 7th,
and that other observers relocated on the 8th.
GPS: N 34 14.120 W 83 58.824
Scope required unless the loon comes in very close.
The US Army Corps of Engineers website has the Lake Lanier Recreation Map at a new
location:
http://www.sam.usace.army.mil/lanier/ParkRecreationMap.htm
If you click on the PDF version at the top you get a much more readable map if you have a PDF
reader installed.
Good Birding All!
Mark
