Subject: Centennial Olympic Park, 8 Nov 2011
A few warblers are still hanging on in COP, but diversity and numbers of all species are down
markedly from recent weeks.
Despite the declining activity in the park, its story has again caught the attention of everyday
Atlantans. I was recently interviewed for the local magazine East Atlanta Patch regarding the COP
migrant phenomenon.
The story (with photos from local birders) can be found here: http://eastatlanta.patch.com/articles/centennial-olympic-park-downtown-s-avian-oasis#video-

Highlights from today:
Cooper's Hawk 1 immature, chasing pigeons
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3
Ovenbird 3, numbers way down
Black-and-white Warbler 1m, 1f
Tennessee Warbler 9, all immature birds; it seems most or all of the adults are gone
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 5
Hooded Warbler 1, this adult male has been very loyal to the NE corner
Magnolia Warbler 4
Blackpoll Warbler 1, persisting adult
Song Sparrow 2
White-throated Sparrow 7
Northern Cardinal 4
House Finch 4
