Subject: business glossary and batch updation for SAS Metadata server
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi,

I'd appreciate some answers to some questions on the SAS metadata server that I have and not been able to glean from the online docs.

a) If I want to give the business definitions to table attributes, I should be using the extended attributes part of registered table in SMC? Is that searchable? i.e. search the library based on the business definition? b) If business users provide a CSV or excel of column, definition, is it possible to upload the definitions in bulk upload? Basically, if I give the table column definitions in 1 table/excel and they add the business glossary terms to it, can I do a bulk import of the same?

Wouldn't it be tiresome to do register the DBMS library for each schema, then expand it for each table, and then manually key in the business definitions for each column?

I apologise if there are simpler or obvious methods to do it but I can't seem to find the right parts of the documentation that explains how do a batch upload of table metadata definition provided by end users.

shanks
