A good-sized group of birders assembled in the powerline cut at the
botgarden this morning in search of the Connecticut. Happily, James
Neves heard it singing just after 7am, and it gave us all the
runaround for the next 2-3 hours. Those that stuck it out all
eventually got decent views, and at least 6 of the folks present got
it as a lifer. Mitchell Jarrett and I stuck it out longer than most,
and eventually got great, out-in-the-open looks at the bird perched
above our head and about 20 feet up! We had these views in the trees
above the privet tangle behind the lower parking lot and to the right
of the path heading down the powerline to the river, always before the
deer fence. The bird ranged between both sides of the powerline cut
and in the low vegetation between during our stay. I managed one
half-decent photo of the bird sitting above me as it sang, which is
here:

All birders were on their best behaviour, with no pishing or playback
used. Great fun and conversation was had by all. James Neves and the
Crosbys had some more great birds at the beaverpond along the Orange
Trail, but I'll leave him to report back on that.
Cheers
