Don't think for a moment this isn't the first misID of this kind ever perpetrated. In the mid 1960's Stan Levine gave a memorable talk to the NY Shell Club entitled "Phony Conus." He drew heavily on juvenile strombids, the columbellid genus Parametaria, and certain taxa then placed in the Turridae.

I don 't recall seeing a stromboid notch in any juvenile strombid such as the topical one appears to be.
