My understanding (which may or may not be accurate) is that 9.1/9.2 is not the issue, but 32-bit vs 64-bit. 9.2 has the same file format as 9.1 but the 32 bit vs 64 bit means there are actual differences in how the file is stored.

Not entirely sure what "partial promotion" is, I'd probably just CIMPORT using an automated routine. But I'm very far from the most knowledgeable person on these boards about CEDA, hopefully someone else will know...
