If you are enrolled at a college or university, particularly in the U.S., most universities let you 'buy into' their SAS site licenses if you are a student or staff member doing research; this is generally *very* inexpensive, such as $30.00, and then you are legal! It might even make it worth it to take a college course....

By the way, there IS a free version of Oracle in case you want to practice your SQL.
