Hi everyone.

If my interest was to find out what the predictors to my response variable, is it a must to check or carry out some diagnostic test to my final model ie residual? I thought diagnostic test is only when you want to use the model for prediction or forecasting use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend.
