Subject: Murray County birding - 1/22/10
Not too much to mention. Seth and I made a trip over to the Carters reregulation lake this
morning. I was hoping the front had moved something interesting in. Not so, no ducks. I birded
the dam area and the Powerhouse area. I did find my first FOX SPARROW of the year on the
Powerhouse Rd. It was on the left on the way in. It was in the understory of the pine woodland,
almost across from the power station. Highlights:
Bonaparte's Gull - 3
American Kestrel
Red-headed Woodpecker
House Wren
Hermit Thrush
Brown Thrahser - 5
Fox Sparrow
After this we checked the ponds around Chatsworth, I found the following ducks:
Gadwall - 3
Ring-necked Duck - 35
Bufflehead - 3

Murray County
