Salting beaches by parents to keep their kids busy and happy is a widely practiced. I used to find Florida shells in Hawaii!

Avril,

For this Floridian, my coldest winter this year was a trip in June to Washington State and a short sojourn to your beautiful British Columbia. The Floridians in the group were wearing every piece of clothing we brought with us and were still cold. The locals were in shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops, and one toddler outside only in diapers and oblivious to the temperature.

Your Cypraea amulet reminded me while looking for land shells in Poulsbo, Washington, I found a Cypraea annulus in the dirt. It did not have holes in the shell-my first guess would have been it was a remnant from a souvenir necklace. Although old I presume it had to be recent but its location buried in a wooded area was curious.
