Subject: Yellow-crowned night-heron and marsh wren seen at Clyde Shepherd
this morning

Hello birders,
Sylvia Chandler and I birded Clyde Shepherd Nature Reserve in DeKalb
County this morning. The yellow-crowned night-heron was perched
conspicuously in a tree directly across the pond from the observation
deck for at least two hours, from 8 AM when we arrived, to 10 AM,
before flying off. We also saw the marsh wren in the reeds below the
observation deck, in the same spot at which I had seen the bird last
week. Otherwise, most of the birds were the usuals, with the best
finds being an accipiter (not sure which), red-shouldered hawk, indigo
buntings, and palm and magnolia warblers. I put a photo of the
night-heron on flickr.com:

Cheers,
Stan Chapman, DeKalb County
