Got a little later start at the Meadows than Walt did; I was walking in while he was walking out, lol...Only highlight to speak of, was a late Green Heron. Full eBird report:

Location: Oxbow Meadows Observation date: 10/24/09 Start: 11:15 a.m. Notes: Cloudy, cool, a little windy and thus a little chilly. Number of species: 39

Wood Duck - Aix sponsa 2 Double-crested Cormorant - Phalacrocorax auritus 44 Anhinga - Anhinga anhinga 12 Great Blue Heron - Ardea herodias 7 Great Egret - Ardea alba 5 Little Blue Heron - Egretta caerulea 1 Green Heron - Butorides virescens 1 Observed from the berm near the Borrow pit pond. I thought they would have migrated by now! Black Vulture - Coragyps atratus 15 Turkey Vulture - Cathartes aura 10 Sharp-shinned Hawk - Accipiter striatus 1 Observed flying SW over the S. App. Field towards the mouth of Upatoi Creek, from the direction of the Learning Center. Red-shouldered Hawk - Buteo lineatus 1 Red-tailed Hawk - Buteo jamaicensis 1 Killdeer - Charadrius vociferus 2 Rock Pigeon - Columba livia 3 Mourning Dove - Zenaida macroura 18 Belted Kingfisher - Megaceryle alcyon 3 Red-bellied Woodpecker - Melanerpes carolinus 5 Northern Flicker (Yellow-shafted) - Colaptes auratus 4 Eastern Wood-Pewee - Contopus virens 1 Eastern Phoebe - Sayornis phoebe 4 Blue Jay - Cyanocitta cristata 12 Fish Crow - Corvus ossifragus 5 Swallow sp. - Hirundinidae sp. 20 All observed steadily flying SSW (in migration?) over the West Application Field (Big Bend area) [my guess is Tree Swallow].
