West Overlook - Late Afternoon Hawkwatch - 10/25/09
Hi All,
I got a very late start today trying to continue feeling out fall
hawkwatching in northwest Georgia. Finally though I was set up on the
West Overlook platform at Fort Mountain State Park by 3:30PM this
afternoon on a gorgeous day! Highlights were one southbound Sharpie, one
northbound accipiter spp., a group of 36 southbound Turkey Vultures, and a
southbound group of 47 Tree Swallows very high!

Observation date: 10/25/09
Notes: Hawkwatched from the Fort Mountain State Park West Overlook
platform from 3:30PM until about 6:05PM, most of the activity was prior to
5PM. A mostly sunny day, but a bit hazy, winds were mostly from the
northwest at 3 to 10 mph, visibility was 47+ miles. Temperatures ranged
approximately from 70 to 60 degrees F.
