I remember that conference fondly as well ... wound up getting to go even though they turned down the abstract I submitted. ;-)
I no longer have the Proceedings, but I do have an old copy of "Master Index to SUGI Proceedings." There is an entry for DateDiff MACRO (not function), listing a paper on pages 123-128. Perhaps Michael Ra. could work from that to zero in on the paper title and author.

JT, ah SUGI 17 - Honolulu Hawaii; Waikiki Beach!!!! Despite having "JUNKET" stamped all over it, my employer agreed to send me anyway. I still have fond memories of that SUGI, as well as the procedings, right here on my bookcase. Nice cover, eh?
A review of the Keyword Index does not net "datediff". If you could be so kind as to tell me the name of the paper or the author, then I will be glad to provide more details. Otherwise, it's aloha for me!
