Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252
Sierra Information Services will present the following schedule of
online, half-day, SAS training seminars during April 2009. Each
session is just $149 per person. For more information, and online
registration, please visit http://www.regonline.com/elearning.
Additional course details, including printable outlines, are available
at http://www.sierrainformation.com/seminars_outlines.php
• April 7: Introduction to Data Summarizatieon and Reporting Using
PROCs FREQ and MEANS: generate tabulations and univariate (single-
variable) statistical analyses using the FREQ and MEANS Procedures,
two of the core analytic tools available in the BASE Module. Designed
for newer users of the SAS System, this half-day session provides a
range of in-depth examples of how these PROCs are used to tabulate,
analyze and report data, as well as their capabilities to store the
results of their work in new data sets. Prerequisites: Completion of
an introductory SAS programming class or an equivalent level of Data/
Procedure step coding experience. The materials presented assume you
are familiar with core arithmetic/statistical concepts such as sum,
mean, median and range.
• April 8: Unleashing the Power of PROC REPORT: understand and apply
the core capabilities of this extremely powerful BASE SAS reporting
tool. Combine data summarization, analysis and reporting in one step,
and create the reports you need with a minimum of coding! Learn key
PROC REPORT statements/commands to group, display and analyze your
data, as well as create summaries/analyses at "report breaks."
Prerequisites: completion of an introductory SAS programming course,
or experience writing Data and Procedure Steps to create reports and
analyses.
• April 9: Exchanging Data Between SAS and Microsoft Products:
quickly and accurately move SAS-generated output to Excel-readable
files, and vice-versa, by attending this popular in-depth session.
Explore how the IMPORT and EXPORT "Wizards" and their companion
"PROCs," the ODS CSV, CSVALL and HTML Destinations, the EXCEL Libname
Engine and the EXCELXP Tagset reduce the number of steps and coding
required to move data between SAS and Excel. Prerequisites:
Completion of a SAS programming class and/or approximately one year of
hands-on SAS Data/Procedure step coding experience.
• April 28: Introduction to the SAS Output Delivery System (ODS):
understand the core ODS processes and functions that make you a "power
user" of SAS' reporting and analytic procedures. This session
explains the ODS' role in 'delivering' output to 'destinations,' and
how to create PDF, RTF, HTML and CSV files from your procedure-
generated output. You will also learn about ODS Style Templates and
how to combine the output from multiple Procedure "runs" in to one
final report. Prerequisites: Completion of a SAS programming class
and/or approximately one year of hands-on SAS Data/Procedure step
coding experience.
• April 29: PROC REPORT: Beyond the Basics: obtain an in-depth
understanding of advanced capabilities offered by this key SAS
analytic tool. Take advantage of the power and flexibility of the
COMPUTE facility and the CALL DEFINE, COMPUTE BEFORE and COMPUTE AFTER
statements, as well as learn how to combine ODS (Output Delivery
System) capabilities to generate the "final" report in one step!
Prerequisites: completion of "Unleashing the Power of PROC REPORT"
seminar or a similar level of experience/training on core PROC REPORT
capabilities
• April 30: SAS Data Step Programming Efficiencies: reduce both
coding steps and processing time by following the examples and
principles discussed in this class. Understand how SAS creates a data
set and how to control that process to maximum efficiency with minimum
programming. And, avoid unnecessary data step tasks with powerful SAS
procedures! Appropriate for all SAS users, regardless of the operating
system on which they use SAS products. Prerequisites:Completion of a
SAS programming class and/or approximately one year of hands-on SAS
Data/Procedure step coding experience.
Thanks!
