Again I want to thank all who have provided comments and collecting data for these three shells. The presentation of L. pensylvanica has now been posted. http://z14.invisionfree.com/Conchologist_Forum/index.php?showtopic=1625 Additional comments and data for all three shells is again solicited.

You may note that in the below posting the name of P. pectinata has been changed to the masculine P. pectinatus. For Harry Lee's in depth discussion of this issue see http://z14.invisionfree.com/Conchologist_Forum/index.php?showtopic=1611&view =findpost&p=5325437

-----Original Message----- Sent: December 23, 2008 Subject: S. floridana and now P. pectinatus

Thanks to all who sent collecting data and comments for S. floridana. All have been added to the presentation. The second (Phacoides pectinatus) of this series of three similar shells (the last will be Lucina pensylvanica) has now been posted. Although reported on both sides of Florida I have never found P. pectinatus on Florida's west coast. Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of finding P. pectinatus on Florida's west coast? -----Original Message----- Sent: December 21, 2008 Subject: Stewartia floridana (Conrad 1833)

S. floridana is endemic to the Gulf of Mexico. However, to my limited knowledge it is found only along Florida's west coast and the coast of Texas. In Florida I've found records of finds only from Sanibel north to Cedar Key. It is also supposed to be sometimes found in the Florida Keys. Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of finding this shell in the Keys or along the Florida West coast both inside and outside the range indicated? This shell is most often collected washed ashore.
