I think you are interested in the present living species, which is Pagodula echinata (Kiener, 1840: Fusus). Murex carinatus Antico. Bivona, 1832 is a different species, a fossil I think, which in the past has been misidentifieed with the actual species. Trophon carinatus Jeffreys, 1883 may be a synonym also. The species lives in the whole Mediterranean Sea and I personally have a lot of specimens from the Tuscan Archipelago, Italy, North Thyrrenian Sea, 70 - 200 mt. Enzo
