In Marco Sola, "Muricidae Rafinesque, 1815" supplement to World Shells # 17, 1996 (a nomenclature compilation) I find:
in the alhabetical list of species:
carinatus (Bivona, 1832) GENUS: Trophonopsis (Pagodula), SUBF.: TROPHONINAE
echinatus (Kiener, 1840) syn. of carinatus
in the subfamily list, genus Trophonopsis, subgenus (Pagodula), as the only representative of this subgenus:
carinatus (Bivona, 1832), Mediterranean Sea
forms
aculeatus Settepassi, 1977
cinara, Monterosato 1884
depressus Locard
elongatus Settepassi, 1977
grimaldi (Dautzemberg-Fischer 1887)
hirtus Settepassi, 1977
major (Dautzemberg-Fischer 1887)
multiaculeatus Settepassi, 1977
multilamellosus Philippi, 1836
muticus Monterosato in Settepassi, 1977
spinosus Locard
tenuis Monterosato 1884
synonims:
echinatus (Kiener, 1840)
vaginatus (Cristofori & Jan, 1832)
If Pagodula is accepted as the genus, it becomes Pagodula carinata (Bivona, 1832),
I cannot help more, because ...... I dont' collect Mediterranean shells!

Hello All
I need author and date to; Trophon carinatus. After the Latin name is; Bivona. The location I have is; Pantellaria Island, Sicily Channel, Italy. Trawled 80 meters, 3-79. That is the data I have, want to correct.
