The most exciting bird for me today was a MARSH WREN at the back of the
sparrow field, finally! I was playing Sora and a couple "small" rails on
the iPod, with the distant hope of finding something crazy out there in the
wet areas. In the background on Stokes is a Marsh Wren calling. Just as it
got to that part, I knew I heard an echo in the cattails. Sure enough, I
put my binos on some twitching foliage, there was that distinct
supercilium, and a rusty-toned skulker was peaking out, calling "chek-
chek... chek-chek." Just as I got to the observation deck on the river, one
of the OSPREYS came crashing down into the river and lifted off with a good-
sized trout, flopping like crazy but with no chance of getting loose from
those talons. An active RED-EYED VIREO nest was found along the river today.
