Subject:   Cackling Goose

Went up to Fite Bend Road late this afternoon. I spotted the geese and sandhill cranes with my binos. As soon as I got my scope on the cackling goose, all the geese flew off. I waited 15 minutes or so to see if they would return. As it was getting dark (around 5:00 pm), I headed over to the farm on Pine Chapel Road. Surprise, surprise. The geese were back there with the cackling goose. As I watched, sandhills cranes came in. They were all in and around the pond behind the barn.
