Subject: Local User Group Registration Guidelines

A potentially contentious issue has arisen between a local SAS Users Group and SAS Institute. The LUG has a mailing list, built up over the years from sign-up sheets at meetings, inquiries, etc. The LUG has assured people that their contact information would not be shared with any third party.

Now SI has asked for a copy of that list, citing http://support.sas.com/usergroups/namerica/local.gdlines.html.

This all puts the LUG in something of a bind.

Any thoughts, experiences, suggestions regarding the situation? Thanks.
