Jim

Given that you propose plotting days on the vertical axis and time units on the x axis, how do you plan to define blocks of x y pairs that would be colored? All a map of the US is is a set of x y coordinates for each state and also an id variable that identifies the state. Do you plan to define groups of hours or other time intervals within a day or , perhaps, all time between, say, midnight and 0700 as a block that would be colored according to some schema?

I am wondering if anyone knows how I might build a custom map so I could use PROC GMAP CHORO(pleth) functionality in some non-traditional ways. I would like to have a map that is dates on the y-axis and time on the x-axis so that I could show CPU utilization (for example) for each interval in a day for an entire month.

A friend of mine has shown me how this can be done, somewhat awkwardly, using PROC GPLOT, but it occurred to me that PROC GMAP might be better suited to this if I could just define my map. I can't find anything reading through the documentation (I'm 9.1.3 on z/OS and Windows) so I am hoping someone here can point me in a good direction to play with this some more. Can anyone?

Thanks,
