Hi Roger,
You may want to investigate the 'Authentication' operand on
the TCPIPService definition as well as HTTPS to authenticate your
clients that are using ECI to connect to CICS.

Subject: VTAM Anynet
Curious if anyone else has this problem and what they are doing about
it. We will be migrating to z/OS1.8 in a couple of weeks. Apparently
the VTAM Anynet function will not be supported with z/OS1.8. In one
particular CICS region we have a large number of LU6.2 APPC connections
that use the Anynet function. The plan is to replace the LU6.2
connections with TCPIPService connections using the ECI protocol. This
seems to work except there is one problem. We have a userid associated
with the LU6.2 connections using the Securityname parm on the connection
definition. There is no equivalent with a TCPIPService definition so
right now the mirror transactions run in CICS with the default userid.
I understand Enterprise Extender is a replacement for the Anynet
function. I don't know much about either but believe there will be
quite a bit of cost to implement Enterprise Extender. Outside of making
changes to the application, anyone aware of any other options.
