Here are images of Leptopecten latiauratus monotimeris
and L. latiauratus. latiauratus. The Color and shape is different then
these specimens from Baja.

Kelp, this species is found offshore in deep water.

I'm confident that they are Chlamys latiaurata,
as these are commonly found on Spondylus. However,
yours are so juvenile, it's hard to say with 100%
certainty, but there are no other Pectens in and around
Baja that live attached to other shells. Up in the southern
California area, specimens are found growing on
the thick ropes that hold large vessels in place.
